Imagine the car to pass over a bump. Assuming the rise of the wheel to be very rapid - the spring gives entirely before the body moves or the spring on the far-side adjusts itself. In this case, we will take the movement of the spring to be as follows. Movement of ball joint on shock absorber 2.19". L axle assumes = Sin⁻¹ 2.19/48 = Sin⁻¹ .0456 = 2° 38' ∴ Assuming the axle to pivot about the track in contact with the ground, the height to which the wheel could be raised before the second plate came into action would be 54 x .04562 = 2.46 in. Assuming the axle to remain Horizontal & the body & chassis to tilt, the angle the chassis could assume = Sin⁻¹ 2.19/21 = .1045 = 6° Diagram measurements: Top diagram: 48", 54", 21" Bottom diagram: 21", 2.19" | ||
