SPECIFICATION No.E1.4/1.

C.A.V. Type Regulator B.2.CS/11 (2 1/4 turn).
Chassis Dynamos.

"The overall dimensions, and external finish to be as shewn on drawing D.55030.

The regulator shall be mounted on its base in conjunction with a field resistance of 15 ohms. in such a position that it is not more than 15° from the horizontal. The complete unit to be connected to a standard dynamo and a suitable variable load.

Electrical Performance.

(1) With the dynamo delivering current and with the regulator cold, the dynamo speed shall be increased until the regulator commences to operate, after which the speed of the dynamo shall be varied from this point to 5,000 r.p.m. maintaining the voltage across the regulator terminals at 13.5. During this time the current shall lie between the limits 13.8 and 16.7 amps.

(2) Test (1) shall now be repeated but with the terminal volts adjusted to 15.5 when the output current shall lie between the limits of 3.2 and 5.9 amperes.

(3) In order to heat up the regulator the dynamo shall be run on load at 13.5 volts at a speed of 2,000 r.p.m. for a period of 2 hrs. At the end of this run the temperature of the regulator shall not exceed 65°C.

With the regulator hot (1) and (2) shall be repeated and the corresponding values shall be within the following limits.

(1) 17.4 to 20.3 amps. at 13.5 volts.

(2) 6.6 to 7.4 amps at 15.5 volts.

(4) The regulator shall now be run for a period of 100 hours connected to a dynamo and battery. The speed of the dynamo shall be maintained at 2,500 r.p.m. and the volts on the regulator terminals so adjusted that for 50 hours the output current is between 6 and 7 amperes, and for the remainder of the time
