E.F.G. X4617S JD{J. Draper - Frames}27. X4617S. Re Failure of P&R cell in 53 Battery (156) No 3 cell has failed in this battery after having run 27,117 miles on the road, & has been on our bench life test 22 months. On opening up this cell it was found that failure was due to the stretching of the positive plates & shorting on the negative strap. The negative plates were in good condition. The positive plates had lost only a fair amount of paste but were very weak mechanically. The wood separators were good. The ebonite separators had got very thin & worn. HJ. | ||
