Re Failure of Exide cell in S1 Batt
No 6 cell has failed in this battery after having been on our Bench Life test 29 months, & ran 13,336 miles.
Failure was due to the stretching of the positive plates shorting on the negative bus bar.
The negative plates were good.
The positive plates had lost a good amount of paste & were very weak mechanically.
The wood separators were very poor being eaten through badly although the ebonite separators were good.
The depth of sediment was about 1/2 inch.
