PHILCO PHILCO RADIO AND TELEVISION CORPORATION OF GREAT BRITAIN, LTD. In reply please quote AFDK/AED CAR RADIO DIVISION. 46183. THE SOCIETY OF MOTOR MANUFACTURERS & TRADERS AINTREE ROAD, Perivale, Greenford, Middlesex Telephone ...... Perivale 3344 Telegrams ... Philcorad, Greenford 14th October 1935. H.E. West, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. Dear Mr. West, I thought the following extracts from a letter received by us from Mr. R.E. Dennis, Asst. Managing Director of Dennis Bros. of Guildford, might be of interest to you. He writes:- "Contrary to the suggestion of Messrs. Rolls-Royce I allowed you to fit a condenser across the voltage regulator. The Rolls-Royce Co. deprecated this very seriously, and stated that, in their opinion, the controller would not last for more than about 500 miles. I am pleased to say that I have now completed 10,000 miles, and there is no sign of failure. I am passing this information on to you, as you will remember that we agreed to co-operate in order to try to overcome the excessive electrical interference which seems peculiar to Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars. At the same time, you promised to keep me advised of any improvements which your engineers made in co-operation with Rolls-Royce, and I shall be glad if you will advise me of any progress you have made." You also may be interested to learn that on our new 803T British-made Dual Wave Receiver we find on quite a number of cars that plug and distributor head suppressors can be dispensed with, and this applies to installations we have already made to Rolls-Royce cars, but so far we have not installed the new set on a Rolls-Bentley. We anticipate releasing this new set within the next two weeks, when, of course, you will be officially advised. You may therefore care to have one of these sets on loan for test purposes, in which case I shall be very pleased to send you one. Yours very truly, Manager CAR RADIO DIVISION.
