We find that there is a fair amount of "Headlamp Movement" on this car when it is travelling at speed on moderately good roads. Much more so than on other models that we have tried. We shall be pleased to have your recommendations as to how we can effectively reduce this movement. Would increasing the load on the torque reaction dampers improve matters ? Will you please let us know the normal load to which torque reaction dampers are set on Bentley chassis. We are aware that, should the load be too high, it would cause "roughness" being transmitted to the frame at certain engine speeds. Therefore also please let us know the maximum to which the dampers can be set. With regard to the mounting of a Bentley radiator, we should like to know how much it can be rocked sideways from either side of its centre line when the mounting is correctly adjusted. We should mention that we increased the loading on the front and rear hydraulic dampers of this car from normal setting to 90-95 lbs. We are wondering whether this extra load on the front dampers may be the cause of extra movement at the front of the frame side members. Hm{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs}/VA. | ||
