SPRING GAITERS.
-----------

Referring to Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Gyl/LG.28.5.29. the method of lubrication which has been applied to all springs(and is still in force) for the last 12 months, is to soak a piece of felt in oil and place that in position on the spring so that it is in contact with each load carrying step on the spring, in other words on front springs on the 40/50 HP. and all springs on the 20 HP. the strip of oily felt is on the underside of the spring. In the case of the rear springs for the 40/50 HP. it is on the upper side of the spring when the spring is in position.

We have never found loading the gaiter with grease to be any advantage, it has been tried but failed.
