CAST-IRON RATIONALISED ENGINES. Herewith a summary of the high power chassis engines which are at present either in process of manufacture or instructed. It will be noted that several engines which were instructed before the war have now been cancelled. It is inevitable that if the rate of producing experimental parts is slowed up sufficiently, they become obsolete before they are completed. Because we cancel a unit we do not wish the parts to be scrapped. Designs for a range of marine units are at present being completed and we expect to be able to convert redundant car engines for marine work. Before the patterns for the aluminium 8 are completed, we propose to bring the drawings for this engine completely up-to-date. These revised drawings will be issued during the next few days. We propose to revise this list of engines every two months. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Attached memo. ref.
