X411 wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} C. BY/SS.{S. Smith} C. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY2/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 13.5.26. 40/50 HP. FRONT AND REAR SILENCERS. E.72898 & E.73678. We notice from wd{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}3/NJ. 12.5.26. that at the present moment the Chesterfield Tube Company do not find themselves able, with the experience available, to produce the above pieces in "Staybrite" steel, but undoubtedly as their experience grows, they may find it possible to make further proposals. In view of this possibility, therefore, I think it most desirable to ask them to retain the blueprints of the parts, and revert to it if and when they think they are better equipped by experience and tools, to produce the parts. It will be remembered that in this particular case we were suggesting a folded joint instead of either a solid drawn tube or a welded seam. It is apparently the production of the fold which bothers the Chesterfield Tube Company, and also evidently they do not feel sufficiently well equipped from the point of view of welding to attempt welding up the sheet into a tube.
