Re Steering Wobbles, contd.
-2-

W. is fully aware of the difficulty with large Palmer tires and attribute the wobble to the heavy weight. It is for this reason they recommended the stronger spring in the new H series type side tube.

Personally I think the bend in our side steering tube has much to do with the question, as it probably springs a little when called upon to steer the very heavy tires.

The heavy charges are of course explained by the fact that everything was dismantled to get to the bottom of the trouble, and every part which had wear was renewed in the hope that a cure might be effected.

Our test therefore was quite exhaustive.

Of course Mr. Royce was not aware of all this when he wrote his memo.

I attch the report Mr. Wormald sent me, prepared in conjunction by Messrs Chandler, Day and Bellringer, on a similar case with Mrs. Trimmer's car 2025E; and when I mention that also Sir E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Stern's car also gave similar trouble I think you will realize that we have not
