( 6 ) K.L.G. FLB.30.X. These were then fitted and the gaps burnt from .020 to .031" in 5,000 miles. The effect of the wide gaps was to cause sparks to jump direct from the plug terminal to the inlet pipe flanges, with consequent misfiring. FLYWHEEL & CLUTCH. LOP. GB.2100. Existing complete to above LOP. Jaggers when hot and transmission rattles on engagement were experienced in varying degrees during the mileage, but as a rule with reasonable operation, the clutch was smooth in action. There were however, times when it would not have passed with an owner. It was free from slip and always freed readily. The clutch pedal was set when the car was taken over from Paris, and required no further adjustment. GEARBOX. LOP. GB.518. Change Gear & Brake Mechanism LOP. GB.1926. N.S.4806. The following new parts fitted:- N.S.4900 Further modification to isolated Change Gear. The gears were good standard for quietness and ease of change. Trouble was experienced due to the gear lever sticking when trying to move through the gate from left to right. This was due to the shoulder on the guide pin fouling the edge of the hole in the washer in the outer end of the gear lever shaft. The guide pin was slightly out of line. After re-fitting the pin and chamfering the edge of the hole in the washer, no further trouble occurred. The plunger of the hand brake ratchet stuck down, throwing the ratchet out of action. It was released by injecting penetrating oil and tapping it. If it cannot be released in this way, considerable dismantling is necessary to free it. The trouble is experienced in service. | ||
