CHASSIS BRAKE DRUMS.

We give below comparative prices of Brake Drum Castings from three different sources.

LAKE & ELLIOT.

We have for some time been purchasing Brake Drum Castings from this firm in their "Millenite" Iron, today's price being 47/- per cwt.

MIDLAND MOTOR CYLINDER CO.

We have recently carried out tests of Brake Drums made in their "Chromidium" Iron, and the price works out at 38/4d per cwt. - Rear Brake Drums. 42/- per cwt. - Front Brake Drums.

CONYGRE FOUNDRY LTD.

We have not yet tested any castings made in their special Nickel Chrome Alloy "Conychrom" Brake Drum Iron. The price quoted is 40/- per cwt. Front Brake Drums. 37/6d " " Rear Brake Drums.

The following is a list of firms who purchase castings in this material under contract from them:-

Austin Motor Co.Ltd.
A.E.C.Ltd.
Morris Motors Ltd.
Dennis Bros. Ltd.
Morris Commercial Cars Ltd.
Riley Co.Ltd.
Triumph Co. Ltd.

On making enquiries we find that our Foundry is casting Brake Drums for Phantom III Chassis, standardised some time ago. Would it not be advisable, therefore, to cast all future requirements at these Works for all chassis? R-R costs not yet available.
