These have enabled us to obtain some idea of the difficulties with which we are confronted in attempting to solve the problem. In view of the fact that it is highly improbable that we shall hit upon a simple and complete solution to the trouble, we feel that a summary of the facts which have lead us to this conclusion may prevent any mis-apprehension as to the present state of affairs. We have so far tackled the difficulty from two sides :- (a) Analytical. We have endeavoured to ascertain by means of our tests the fundamental nature and causes of wobbles, their amplitude and periodicity, in order to be able to indicate the direction which design might take to eliminate the trouble in the future. (b) Practical palliatives. Tests have been made to discover what prospect there is of obtaining comparative immunity from wobbles on the present standard car. Tests (a). We have been able to find out a good deal about high speed wobbles in Tests (a), but most of the information we have obtained has indicated that beyond a certain point, contd:- | ||
