40/50 HP. WHEEL CARRIERS AT REAR. X8600
Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG24.12.26.

The CSC. and the SC. are quite in favour of this method of carrying the rear wheel, but before we can go further into it, the question of cost will have to be investigated and also we would like to know whether it is your idea that this wheel carrier should be supplied as a standard or as an optional extra.

We understand that WW. have made a design which would enable the luggage grid to be bolted on to the frame as at present (which we sell); or, alternatively, a combination luggage grid and wheel carrier.

Of course, this would necessitate provision being made for two wheel carriers at the sides, one to be used when luggage is being carried, and for the two 'wells' at the sides to be supplied with some neat lid{A. J. Lidsey} or cover.

It would also be necessary, we think, for some provision to be made, either to cover over one side carrier when the wheel is being carried at the rear (as the carrier is a rather ugly feature standing alone; or alternatively we suggest that this carrier might be made detachable, on the headlamp stump scheme; or that the plate might be made detachable.

We would therefore like to know just what the proposals are, and what the extra cost would be of the carrier at the rear.

We think possibly we should have to endeavour to sell these as an optional extra, and we think we might sell as many of these as we do grids, which represents about 40% of output.
