Scheme of modifications to the brake linkage for a Bentley 111 to suit a lower frame.

Please receive herewith the following scheme :-

G.CD.206 Modfns. to brake linkage to suit lower frame.

The above scheme shews the level top of frame lowered 1.500 in accordance with PD.32 and F.CD.139, which necessitates the following modifications :-

(1). G.CD.72.
The fulcrum for the hand brake lever being lowered 1.500, with the frame, the position of the brake lever handle remaining unchanged.

(2).
The centres of the brake rack and the support have been reduced and their position on the frame modified, due to the lowered fulcrum, and one tooth has been deleted from the rack.

(3).
The travel of the hand brake lever has been reduced from 10.000 to 9.250.

(4). G.CD.36.
The rear brake intermediate shaft has been lowered .875, and is now 1.250 from the level top of frame, and the bearing housings have been turned through an angle of 45°.

(5).
The support bracket has been altered in shape to suit the new position of the intermediate shaft, and the reduction in the depth of the cruciform member channel.

(6). G.CD.97.
The fulcrum for the swivelling eye on the axle tube bracket and the lower lever of the qualiser mechanism have been lowered .500 in order to correct the brake rope geometry. The geometry, however, with the equaliser lever in its present position is still good, and if any of these parts have been made, they can be used.
