To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.4119 He5/LG6.2.25. c. CJ. BJ. c. RG.{Mr Rowledge} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} S E C R E T. EAC 'V' SERIES IGNITION. X.8680.X.4119. X.3714. We have had very definite symptoms of induction effect causing a very early ignition and popping in the carburetter. We have not been able to reproduce it when we have tried. On the 40/50 HP. we at one time we going to use an insulated ignition tube, but after tests which proved that there would be a risk of induced sparks occurring, it was agreed to retain the metal insulated covered tube which is earthed by means of the brackets. On the 20 HP. we use an insulated tube and have had no complaints with it. On the EAC. we have a much longer insulated tube than on the 20 HP. The bunching of the two sets of wires in one tube might also make the conditions worse. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
