'V' SERIES - ONE IGNITION. X.8680. X.4119 X.3714.

I thank Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} for their memos on the RR. and Scintilla scheme, and though I fear to overload Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and Rg.{Mr Rowledge} on deciding such questions, I have found that when WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} is in conference much more reasonable results (to my mind) are arrived at. Therefore Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} and By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} are extremely important, as they know so well the difficulties of buying and making.

Since our Grosvenor Hotel conference the only thing which has changed is that both Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} (on EAC) and my own (Goshawk) experience has increased our desire for auto control, and I have already pointed to my anxiety for practically exact synchronism, not only for detonations, but also to reduce the tendency of mutual induction tending to fire the wrong plugs, that was so troublesome on the on the 40/50 from the first up to recently. Naturally EFC. is a good specialist who should help.

I am not at all anxious about the difference in cost. I am anxious to get the best, reliability being the first consideration, durability and efficiency following, before cost, each naturally with reason.

R.{Sir Henry Royce}
