We have seen the new special Phantom III Parsons chain which is kept perpetually tensioned, and it has occurred to us that it might be distinctly advantageous to use such a chain on the Bentley as no one liked the old complete Parsons chain. Furthermore, it might be that the present 1½" of clearance between the tyre and the jack pad would be ample for this new chain which is always taut. We suggest, therefore, that you might like to obtain a set of these new type of chains for the Bentley and to try them on the rear wheels so as to ascertain whether they could be used with safety with the rear jack pad in its present position. To avoid a change in the jack pad position would be of considerable advantage to the Works. [Handwritten signature: Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}] | ||
