10th. January 1939.

Messrs. Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Co.,
WOLVERHAMPTON.

For the attention of Mr. W.E.Barton.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of 21st. ult., but would advise you that there was no question of the belts referred to being stretched on to pulleys improperly - we know only too well the results of such mal-practice. The belts were fitted by being slipped over the pulleys before the latter were positioned, so that no possibility of damage could occur.

Under the circumstances, we doubt whether any useful purpose would be served by making further tests on your belts, particularly as the belts we are using at present are competitive in price with, and on our test results, superior to your own belts.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
