Draper - Frames} Noted Please file JCS B.80 ENGINE IN WRAITH 80 CHASSIS - EXHAUST SYSTEM. Please receive herewith the following designs showing a complete exhaust system for this car, using the Buick 8 cylinder engine silencer as requested in Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/H.10.11.38. E.CD.1074 Silencer Suspension. Wraith 80. E.CD.1085 Twin Exhaust Manifold. E.CD.1087 Downtake and Intermediate Pipes - Wraith 80. E.CD.1089 ½ Scale Layout of Exhaust System. The manifold is designed in two pieces joined to a single downtake by a cast iron junction piece. The diameters of the exhaust pipes from the downtake to the tailpipe are all the same as used on the 8 cylinder Buick. To save cost, we have not shown a spherical joint between downtake and manifold, but if this is found desirable for lining up purposes, we will send a further design on request. Most of the suspension details are same as used on the Bentley 111 or Wraith 111 cars. The tail pipe is the same as used on the B.50 chassis to designs E.CD.716/7 except for the front end fixing to the Buick silencer, and a slight difference in the position of the tail support bracket due to the difference created by the fitting of the 18 gallon petrol tank and the longer rear road springs as compared with the B.50. Will you please detail and instruct the above designs for use when the B.80 engine is ready for putting into the Wraith 80 chassis. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
