Phantom III 8" Longer Wheelbase.
------------------------------
We send herewith LeC 4956 showing the modifications to the side channel to provide a frame for the 8" longer wheelbase Phantom III. The 8" has been added in the bay between the rear feet of the cross and the third cross member. Unfortunately this does not consist of a perfectly straight piece of side channel in both views because the radius of the bottom flange of the frame starts before the joggle in the plan view on the present frame.

The cross is unaltered and the third cross member is unchanged except for a modified centre slot to cater for the increased movement of the propeller shaft at this point, resulting from the increased length of the shaft. This will be shown on LeC 4966 which is to follow immediately.

LeC.4965 herewith shows the modifications that are necessary to the pipes and wiring. It also shows how the body brackets and step irons are dealt with. There are no additions to these. Those in the proximity of the third cross member remain as before, and the large body bracket opposite the centre pillar remains in the same position relative to the dash-board.
