Dear Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

We have been in communication with the Esthonian Government authorities and they state that they wish to use their home produced fuel, which has a Shale origin, for aviation purposes, since this permits them to be self-supporting in times of national emergency.

They want to know whether we could give them the full characteristics of this fuel and told us that they had already sent you about 20 gallons of it for test purposes.

They have requested us to get in touch with you and ask if you would be prepared to let us have, say, a gallon of this fuel to do some knock rating tests and chemical analysis etc.

If you could do this, we should be very grateful, and you can forward the sample here, freight collect.

Naturally, we will also give you the results of these tests.

I hope to be able to come up to Derby shortly, but I have been away continuously for a month or so; mostly in Italy and Germany. Incidentally, I saw quite a lot of interesting research work in Germany.

All the best

Yours ever,
F.R.Banks

P.S. Do you think that you & Rq. can give us some O.K. for your engines on "lead" now?
R.B.
