Our Department T. & R.{Sir Henry Royce} FNH/MB.

Date 21st January 1933.

Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited,
Nightingale Road,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

We confirm our telephone conversation of yesterday afternoon with Mr. Young with reference to the supply of 500 gallons of 80 Octane Fuel against your verbal order on our Derby Depot. It was agreed that we should supply you against this order with a blend of 75/25 Persian Aviation/Benzol plus 2 ccs T.E.L. per gallon, this blend being the same as we have recently supplied to you as an 80 Octane Fuel at 150oC Jacket temperature.

As we have told you, we discussed your latest order with the Air Ministry and with the Ethyl Gasoline Corporation, and both Mr. Wood of the Air Ministry and the Ethyl Corporation agree that the blend indicated above will meet their requirements. Mr. Wood also informed us that the maximum of minus 60oC for the cold test can be altered to a maximum of minus 50oC, and that this latter figure is likely to be included in the final specification when it is issued by the Air Ministry.

It must, of course, be emphasised that although we are supplying you now with a blend which the Air Ministry and the Ethyl Gasoline Corporation have approved, we may not, and in all probability will not supply the same fuel at a later date against the new Air Ministry Specification when the Air Ministry have finally made up their own minds as to what this specification will be.

Yours faithfully,
For SHELL-MEX and B.P. LIMITED.

All offers subject to acceptance by return of post unless otherwise stated
