S/W. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. WST 86116 Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}5/KW15.1.36. Headlight Control. An invention has been brought to our notice regarding a car having a form of swivelling headlight, of which full particulars are herewith enclosed. If the car turns to the left the nearside headlight swivels, the other remaining straight ahead. If the car turns to the right the offside headlamp swivels, the other one then remaining straight. The scheme is purely one of assisting motoring on winding roads and of keeping the light on objects on the nearside, especially on bends and around corners, within the beam of the headlights. The scheme looked at broadly seems quite a reasonable one, and I understand meets with the approval of the Ministry of Transport. It may not be so easy to apply to our cars as it is to smaller cars, an example of which was shown me here on an M.G. I promised Mr.Tritton, the inventor, whose name and address appear on the enclosed, to let him know what we thought of the scheme from the R-R car point of view. Would you be good enough to look through these particulars and let me have your views, returning the report in due course. Enc. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Luel | ||
