Included in all the power curves taken with the exhaust silencer take a reading of what power it is necessary to drop by retarding in order to cut out detonations at low speeds. Such tests to be run on 'Shell.' Otherwise continue with tests as instructed in the previous memo. When complete remove LeC.5401 camshaft and fit Continental camshaft now in No.8. unit and check curves as previously. B.9. Continue oil consumption tests in accordance with Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Mths.{Reg Matthews} Complete other jobs as previous memo. No.2.Bed. Single Cylinder Unit. Continue tests as instructed in previous memo, additionally test the effect of exhaust back pressure approximating to that obtained on chassis systems.
