X4242 To from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C.c. to E.H. c. to E.C. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/CB19-4-21. X4242 STARTING HANDLE - GOSHAWK II. We send herewith a blue print of "N" Scheme 848 showing the starting handle as instructed by Mr Elliott in E5/07-3-21. We have shewn a bush in the aluminium handle made of brass tube, but we are not sure whether this is essential. It may be thought that the cylindrical washers on the top of the tube are superfluous, and might be replaced by the end of the distance tube, but we thought it did not appear to be doing the work quite so well. We have sloped the front cross member so as to make it at right angles to the angle of the transmission, which happens to make it coincide with the angle of the top flange of the frame, and therefore makes the cross member easy to produce. It also makes the flange carrying the starting gear tube a plain machined piece instead of a piece with a face on the angle. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
