TO ALL SUPERINTENDENTS, FOREMEN AND OFFICIALS

NATIONAL SERVICE (ARMED FORCES ACT 1939)

Certain employees up to, but not including 23 years of age were called up for registration on the 9th instant.

According to the Schedule of Reserved Occupations, a certain percentage of these employees will be automatically exempted and allowed to remain in their civilian occupation. There are others, however, who, on account of their age would be called to the Armed Forces, but, where it is considered necessary that every effort should be made to retain these men in their civilian occupations, irrespective of the fact that their age does not entitle them to exemption, we are in a position to apply to the Air Ministry for exemption and if each individual case is strong enough, there is every hope that we shall be able to keep these men.

Please, therefore, send a list of such men (who are not exempted under the Schedule) whom you feel are necessary to full production, giving the following particulars:-

Name. in full
Occupation as shown in the Schedule of Reserved Occupations
Date of Birth
Registration number (i.e. Number on Registration Certificate N.S.2)
Name of Ministry of Labour Allocation Office appear-ing on Registration Certificate

As this list must be in the hands of the Air Ministry by Friday next 15th instant, and should be posted not later than the 13th instant, it is requested that if possible, all lists should be in my office by Tuesday next 12th instant.

W.H.F. MATTINSON
WELFARE MANAGER.
