( 17 ) Electric Petrol Gauge. All the screws on the tank unit were one or more turns loose when the car was taken over. Both the reading of the gauge and the warning lamp were erratic on a few occasions, and the fuse always blows if the tank is run too low. Otherwise no definate trouble was experienced and the reading was accurate to the nearest gallon. Screen Wipers. Gave no trouble and werea good standard for silence. Electric Petrol Pump. LOP DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}1117 LeC.4670-4907. Existing, complete to above LOP incorporating:- LeC.4670 Petrol Filter on 2nd Crossmember LeC.4907. Petrol Pump on Dash. The N.S.unit failed at 5,200 miles due to the toggle mechanism binding. The diaphgram of the O.S. unit was loose on the spindle and leaking. These faults were rectified and no further trouble was experienced throughout the mileage in spite of air temperatures of 32°c on some days. Ignition Coil. LOP D.72503. New, complete to above LOP - Standard Production. A complete failure of one coil occurred at 5,350 miles. The spare coil was connected up and no further trouble experienced. BODY WORK. (Park Wards). The rubber door wedges came loose and could not be refitted as the wood screws no longer held in the door frame. A better attachment for the buffers has already received the attention of the Coach-builders. The rear quarter panels cracked badly along the waist line. There was a general lack of clearance for the rear axle, rear damper arms, propellor shaft, and rear universal joint, all of which hit the body work on full bump. The sliding roof rattled at the rear edge when shut, a usual trouble. The windows rattled. The front wings cracked badly alongside the bonnet side strips. They also fouled the bottom edges of the bonnet: This was due to excessive movement on bad roads which is very unsightly. The off front seat does not slide far enough for a short driver. The luggage boot was not dust proof.
