Re: Car for R.{Sir Henry Royce} at W.W.

Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}7/MJ7.11.32, it certainly seems that Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} made a very unsatisfactory job of what you asked him to do.

It is, however, quite clear that the harm had been done before Evernden came to London on Friday, because R's note is dated Friday and Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}, when here, gave Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} to understand that R.{Sir Henry Royce} was very upset at the suggestion which had been made to take 16-G-4 away from him.

It is equally clear that Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} gave Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} to understand that there would be no difficulty in finding a suitable car for R.{Sir Henry Royce}, and in conversation suggested the one now on the Continent, which is almost a duplicate of 20-G-4.

As soon as I get R's reply to my memo. of yesterday, the matter can be quickly straightened out, but it seems very unfortunate that Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} should have made such a mess of what we all realised had got to be handled diplomatically through Nurse.
