To Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} From Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 7/MJ.7.11.32. Re. CAR FOR R. {Sir Henry Royce} AT W.W. I have spoken to Miss Aubin on the 'phone this afternoon in order to try and find out what the trouble is about. On Thursday I tried to speak to Miss Aubin but she was not available. I spoke to Evernden and asked him whether he would see Miss Aubin and find out from her what car would be suitable for use at W.W. As he was going to London the next day, I thought it would be a good opportunity for him to look round and see what was available. He evidently made a very unsatisfactory job of it because from what I made out from Miss Aubin today he returned with the idea that there were no cars available in London for Sir Henry's use and that we propose to take away the one he has at ElmsteadHenry Royce's home in West Wittering. This of course was the last thing we intended to do. When I tackled Miss Aubin as regards what car they would like at W.W. she said that they would like the car they had at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence this year (20-G4.). She suggested that they had expected to have this car returned to them and not always to be left with an old car. It will be remembered that 27-EX. Continental P.ll was intended for R. {Sir Henry Royce} but he never had it. 20-G4. car was taken off them when they came back from France. The solution at the moment I believe is to let them have 20-G4. car although I think they would like it to be painted a different colour before it is returned to them.
