To CR.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to Cd. " " FRS. " " RFO. " " Mr. Nock. X1109 R6/610/5/21. X 1109 RE INSULATING MATERIALS. X. 753 Thank you very much indeed for the information you have collected with reference to insulating materials. Though I agree quite with the conclusions and recommendations you have from Mr. Thompson of the Westinghouse, and others, I would like to point out that in England it is extremely probable that the humidity of the atmosphere gets into the materials during the processes of manufacture, and in the cotton covering of the wire etc., much more so than you will find in the U.S.A. or European Continent. This was the reason why drying and impregnating had to be carried out much more generally in connection with electrical work. This not only applies to during manufacture but to the use of electrical appliances in England. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
