FRONT SPRING SUSPENSION. LOP G 83356 GL{G. Linnett} 790 NS{Norman Scott} 538/9.

We are of the opinion that the setting of the road wheels is too close to the vertical to allow for running conditions. The very uneven wear of the tyres are due to this action. We do not know whether the springs had collapsed to any extent to cause this, but the symptoms of uneven wear started straight away. We usually get one tyre worn due to camber of the continental roads but in this case both tyres were equally bad.

SIDE SPARE WHEEL CARRIER. LOP D 74480 NS{Norman Scott} 4077/8.

The spare wheels rode very steady. No trouble was experienced with the fastening. No bolts worked loose on the attachment to the frame.

EXHAUST SYSTEM. LOP E 86603 LEC 4666 LEC4610-3759 LEC4544 MANIFOLDS

There was no booms in the body from the exhaust system. It was considered good with the exception of snout hiss. This was most noticeable when travelling down narrow roads lined with hedges. The suspension became dry and squeaked. There was no undue crackling from the silencer during cooling down periods. The bolts of the manifold were inclined to work loose, blows developed from the joints.

REAR SHOCK DAMPERS. N.S.4525 NS{Norman Scott} 4650.
Stone Guards for Rear Dampers.

On the run from Derby to Paris, one of the suspension bolts was found to have become loose causing a knock. This was thoroughly tightened up and during the remainder of the mileage no further trouble has occurred. There has been a slight weep of oil from the glands, loss of oil during the mileage has been .7 of a pint from the dampers. The union on the O.S. from the damper control became loose and oil was lost from the unit. The olive of the pipe connection had dug into the pipe and a joint could not be made. The pipe was shortened and a new olive fitted which has since given no trouble. The poundage of the dampers has been maintained. The stone guard has been effective in the protection of the damper body. A knock developed from the connecting links. The bronze pads having worn in diameter have become loose in the socket of the tube. The twisting action of the link causes them to knock.

FRONT DAMPERS.

No oil has been lost from the front dampers, poundage has been maintained. We have not examined them for internal condition.

PETROL TANK LOP E 86709. PETROL TANK 33 GALLON TO LOP88036 LEC4647&4715

In the fitting of the 33 gallon Tank, the tank unit for the electrical connection came higher than the cushion board. We had to cut this and fit an aluminium cover for protection.
