( I5 ) [Handwritten in margin: Bowering] The Tank was very drumy and when half empty, created a drumming noise in the rear of the car. With a full tank, the top drummed. It apparently requires more baffles to prevent the swish of petrol when nearing reserve. We found that the pumps failed to draw petrol while running on the road with approximately five gallons in the tank. When stationary, we could draw petrol to two gallons after which it became intermittant, due to the large area of the tank. We had to dismantle the tank owing to a leak developing in the bottom seam joint. It appeared to be faulty soldering that was the cause. [Illegible Signature] PETROL FILTER FITTED TO REAR CROSS MEMBER. The Filter in this position has not given any trouble. It can be dismantled for cleaning purposes without any undue trouble by the removal of the rear cushion and floor board. At 5,000 miles there was a considerable amount of fluff on the filter. With the cold weather, there has not been any trouble experienced with the petrol vapourising. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. BATTERY BOX & FITTINGS LOP D 7439I LEC 3880 Battery Box removed .375 nearer to frame to prevent fouling of brake rope, temporary bracket fitted to 3rd cross member in place of F87019 The Battery Box remained firm, no trouble experienced with the anchorage. The moving back of the box prevented the brake rope fouling. BATTERY. The current supply was adequate for all the demands made. Water evaporation very little .100 of a pint during the mileage. RADIO AERIAL LOP EL I49 MOUNTED UNDERNEATH THE OFFSIDE RUNNING BOARD. It is asking too much to fit the aerial under the running board for continental roads. On the first two days, the insulation was broken by stones putting it out of action, finally the brackets were broken and the aerial fell off. We could not appreciate any better reception while it was working than when fitted to the roof aerial. STARTER MOTOR LEC 3779 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 3982. The Starter Motor gave no trouble. The engagement was made readily, and sufficent revs per minute to ensure a quick start. The brush gear and commutator was in a good condition. STARTER SWITCH LOP D I00208. No trouble was experienced with the starter switch. | ||
