1139 January 27th.1938. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/AP. R.H.Collier Esq., Collier's Corner, South Yardley, BIRMINGHAM Dear Sir, Thank you for your letter of the 25th inst. I regret the delay in returning the 'Luber-Finer' filter, but am despatching this today. Regarding your queries of the test it has been subjected to; it consisted of feeding the filter from a tapping in a 30 lbs.sq.in. pressure line and is thus purely a bye-pass filter. This trial was identical to which we subjected other makes of bye-pass filters. We have not investigated why the Luber-Finer failed, as we assumed you would rather diagnose the trouble your-self. I understand Mr.Waller wrote to you about the trouble experienced, therefore, there is no necessity for me to repeat this. Even though the filter worked correctly, we would say that it is far too heavy and costly in comparison with other makes which only cost a few shillings and are very light. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
