R.R. 493A (50 H) (D.D. 31, 12-6-25) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. REF: 14.10.25. RE. EAC 1. We are building up EAC.1. 'D' type chassis to the following specification - Chassis No. will be 9-EX. (1) FRAME. Original EAC.1. Frame to N.schs. 1373-5-6 and LeC. 1676 with Goshawk type rear axle control and gearbox members modified as mentioned in No.8. (2) RADIATOR. EAC.1. type radiator with horizontal integral shutters and Goshawk type mounting to N.S.1445. (3) FRONT AXLE. EAC.1. front axle which has 7 1/2° angle of pivot (instead of present standard 6°.) Spring seats on this axle are narrower in centres than present standard. Brake gear and operating mechanism has been modified to conform to present standard. (4) REAR AXLE. Original EAC.1. rear axle complete to N.schs.1360 and 1396. (5) FRONT SPRINGS. We are using 48" front springs with EAC.111 fixing, shackle at front and box bracket at rear. (6) REAR SPRINGS. 72" rear springs in accordance with N.sch.1421. (7) STEERING COLUMN. Latest type of steering column with universal mounting for steering nut and fixed to frame same as present standard. (8) ENGINE. Originally the instructions for this chassis were for the engine to be mounted on subframe, but owing to the design for rear suspension not being completed we are using a 'V' series engine. The rear suspension is the same as present practice. The pressed steel crossmember at the front has been modified and made box shape to take 'V' series cross bar front suspension. Line of transmission remains the same. contd :- | ||
