86051. Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.4/MA.10.10.34. A.T. INSTRUMENTS FOR R.R. & BENTLEY CHASSIS WITH LARGE TYPE TRIP AND TOTAL MILEAGE RECORDER FIGURES. Since our discussion re the above I got into telephonic communication with Mr.Buckland who tells me that they have been looking into the question of the uncertain operation of the trip counter following our complaint, and have now made a slight modification which they are hopeful will improve the zero setting. I have arranged to call and see Arrowsmith, Lenoir and Buckland on Tuesday next to collect a pair of instruments with this modified trip and to discuss with them the question of reducing the weight on the instruments with the new magnetic shielding. In the meantime we are instituting immediately a further series of bench tests to ascertain if we can reproduce the effects which caused the complaints. No efforts are being spared by us in getting this matter all square so that standardization can be effected. On the instructions of E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} we must do further research before standardization will be accepted. I will arrange to let you know the results of my discussion with the A.T.Co's technical representatives later. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
