Handwritten Note: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/WSC{W. S. Cassel} - Noted, it is unfortunate this revised design was not incorporated. We have matter B/F 25/10/34 Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. For the attention of Mr. West. Dear Sirs, With reference to Mr. West's call here on Tuesday, when the design of the trip was discussed further, we should like to confirm that yesterday morning this matter was fully investigated, and drawings are at once being prepared of the exact shape of teeth on both disc and pinion. At the same time, we will increase the diameter of these discs up to exactly the same size as the total mileage, thus doing away with the gap between the present discs and the dial. We thought it best to do this, because, in any case, these new teeth mean new dies for both discs and pinion. It will take about three weeks for the first discs and pinions to be available, but we presume that we had better hold up all further experiments until these come through. If, however, you would like an instrument to carry out tests in connection with the shielded magnet, we could send up a Rev-Clock for this purpose. We should like to take this opportunity of expressing our keen thanks to Mr. West for his help in tracing this trip trouble to, we hope, a positive solution. Awaiting your reply, and always at your service, We beg to remain, Yours faithfully, For THE A.T. SPEEDOMETER CO. LTD [Signature of H.R. Buckland] Director. M21 | ||
