TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CJ. Copy to - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Grosvenor re. GROANS ON STANDARD CHASSIS. X3435 / X1511 In reply to your memo. BY10/H191224., Mr. Stent has reported separately in AJS1/M221224., on the position of the design. We should like to know more about what is referred to as "groans". These have never been reported by HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} He has only complained about periods in the transmission and has demonstrated down here that with a fabric coupling these are practically damped out. It has yet to be shewn that a fabric coupling cures "groans", though we should expect it to do so from the result obtained by HM.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} with the old spring damped coupling.
