Unsuitability of the current A.T. speedometer due to its size and requesting a smaller trip model.

A.{Mr Adams} T. SPEEDOMETER WITH TRIP FOR INSTRUMENT BOARD DESIGN N. SCH.1808. X4308 X4077 The A.T. speedometer shewn on this design is that used on Goshawk, and is the one without a trip. We understand that a trip is considered essential by Sales and the customer. We cannot use the A.T. trip model in this design because it is too big. We have pulled one of these to pieces and notice that there is considerable waste room. The actual speedometer in both cases is the same size, but the two Veeder cyclometers used for the mileage meter on the trip take up local room which adds to the diameter. We understand you have had considerable dealing with this firm during the evolution of the present models and would therefore be very glad if you could ask them if they could produce a trip model speedometer, approximately the same size as that without the trip, this being done by reconstructing the mileage meter and the trip so as to occupy less space, and for our purposes the hand control of the trip would need to look out in such a way that it can be operated from the back of the instrument board. We presume that there are no other speedometers of smaller dimensions which would fulfil our requirements. Most other speedometers are smaller and would suit the design quite well.
