X30146 MINUTES OF CONFERENCE. HELD AT THE OFFICES OF Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. Derby. June 22nd 1921. Present:- Representing Rolls-Royce Ltd.. Mr. Wormald, Col. Harker Mr. Hives Mr. Clark Mr. Bailey Mr. Whitehead Mr. Northey. Representing Lucas Electrical Co.Ltd.. Mr. Oliver Lucas Mr. Ireland. X.4165 X.3014b X.3770 X.4349 X.2515 X.3749 X.4352. The Conference was called by Rolls-Royce to discuss further the position of the Lucas Electrical Equipment, when certain comments of Mr. Royce were put before the Meeting. Mr. Whitehead explained that they could give no undertaking with regard to the fitting of Lucas equipment in the future, but Mr. Lucas said that it would meet his Company's requirements if they were offered a sporting chance of making good the bad impressions created in the past and to be assured that definite business had not already been fixed with a competing firm. This assurance was given and Mr.Lucas said they were prepared to stand entirely on the merit of their products in future. Full responsibility for the defective cutouts was accepted by Lucas who undertook to replace with the new type similar to the one already submitted to Rolls-Royce Test Department, all the old type cutouts when and as called upon by Rolls-Royce. It was agreed that the manufacture of the new type cutout should be pushed forward without delay and that when ready, Rolls-Royce would be advised for the returning of the Switchboxes now held in stock, for conversion. FUSE. It was agreed that the new type Fuse Holder and Clip should be embodied in the Switchboxes, but on investigating the matter further since the Conference, it is not clear how this can be accomplished as the room available is extremely limited. It was suggested that two spare Fuse Holders already loaded should be carried inside the Switchbox. This was agreed. DYNAMO Mr. Clark reported that the 1" longer E.575 dynamo gave very much better results and it was considered by the Meeting that it was sufficiently near to the requirements laid down to proceed with, as it was most | ||
