To CJ. - from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} [struck through] c. to Rg.{Mr Rowledge} X4329 Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}5/M2-10-23. 20HP. ----- Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY and myself have had a conference this morning on your memo CJ5/E28/9/23, and we quite agree with R.{Sir Henry Royce} that the dampers on the 20HP is a distinct improvement. It is considered by us that this alteration could be made without the necessity of 10,000 miles' trial, and we advise you to instruct us at once to fit the temporary scheme, as tried out by Mr.Royce, as standard, and to all our demonstration cars. If you give us instructions to go ahead at once we can start fitting this temporary scheme to all our demonstration cars at the rate of 6 per week. There is a new scheme which means alterations to Crankcases, which of course would be impossible to fit to existing chassis, and it has not been instructed or made experimentally yet. Shall we go right ahead with the temporary scheme? Rg.{Mr Rowledge} is in London today, I will talk this matter over with him tomorrow, but I am confident he will agree with our decision.
