| contd :- -2- The engine was inclined to detonate at low speeds. The makers recommend the car should only be run on 50% benzol mixture. (3) SILENCE. There was a fair amount of noise from the engine. This came from valve operation, piston knocks, magnetos and noisy dynamo. The gearbox gears were very noisy. The rear axle could not be complained of, but there was considerable noise from the tyres which were tripple stud Dunlop. (4) SLOW RUNNING. The throttle was arranged so that the engine could not be shut off. The slow running was poor and irregular. (5) CLUTCH. Unless great care was taken, the clutch jagged badly when engaging. (6) STEERING. We noticed that some temporary balance plates had been fitted to the front wheels. When we asked the reason for this the owner stated that when he first took delivery of the car he experienced a most violent high speed wobble which they had only been able to overcome by balancing the wheels and raising the pressure of the tyres. The steering is remarkably light, free from road shocks and quite selective. The gear ratio is very low, just over 3 complete turns of the wheel from full lock to full lock. On the whole the steering is one of the best features on the car. contd :- | ||
