contd :- -3- (7) COOLING. The owner complained of heat in the front seats. There were side ventilators and a Spinney type ventilator. He also stated that the car lost a considerable amount of water and had to be filled up every day. We should anticipate that they will have trouble with over-heating. The bonnet has 4 shutters fitted to it which can either be open or closed. (8) ENGINE VIBRATION. The engine is very free from torque reaction vibration and crankshaft vibration. (9) BRAKES. The brakes are operated direct by foot pressure only; they are very poor. (10) OILING. The owner stated that the engine had used over 2 gals. of oil in 1300 miles. We noticed that after running light there was considerable smoke from the exhaust. The owner (Mr. Horniman) has previously run R-R cars. His opinion is that the Bentley is better than his Silver Ghost. Taking it all round the Bentley is the nearest competitive car we have tried - it is a good car but there is nothing exceptional about it. There is no feature on it which would help us to overcome our troubles. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
