R.R. 285 A (770 H) (S.D. 44z 9-5-17) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 1965. To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EH. " " Bj. " " E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} " " By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X.3197 EH1/LG13.10.17. 13th Oct. 1917. "HOTPOINT" WATER HEATERS. The Air Board supplied us with two of these to test on an Eagle engine. The Heaters are screwed into a fitting which is brazed on to the pipe from the pump to the cylinders. -> Heaters wires to wall plug We made a test by putting one of the heaters into a bucket containing two gallons of water. Time in minutes. Temp: of water. Current. 0 20 108 Volts 4.6 Amps. 15 25 " " " " 30 34 " " " " 45 40 " " " " 60 48 " " " " We fitted two to an Eagle engine and left it on the Hangar all night. Attached please find results. From the resluts of the test it shows that thses fittings would prevent an engine from freezing. The disadvantage is that they are only useful where there is a supply of current. EH. | ||
