HALF INCH GUN. Smith of Supermarines, is now talking about putting eight of these guns in the Spitfire. This means that the two outer guns in each wing are in a very restricted section of the aerofoil. To avoid bulges on the wing, the external shape of the gun will have to be modified. The matter is being taken up with Ve. 4. PRODUCTION OF MOUNTINGS. Mr. Baird, who is in charge of production of gun mountings, i.e. Ashworth's opposite number, came to Derby yesterday.
