I should be glad to know whether any action is being taken with reference to the clearance of the undershield to the various parts of chassis such as Starter motor, etc., and whether this is going to be increased. If more clearance is given in this respect, I also think the shape and position of the undershield might be improved to advantage, so as to reduce the above complaint. I think that the question of noises from the undershield, also the various other noises from the chassis such as side shaft, dynamo noises, belt noises, etc. which are accentuated by the undershield, should be the means of a special investigation by the Expl: Dept: to ascertain to what extent improvements can be made, as I feel sure that in respect of cars on which covered bodies are fitted, we shall be receiving complaints about these noises.
