MAGNETOS (CONTD.) (10)

Messrs. Bailey and Barrington suggested as an alternative that only one pair of gears should be used, but one of these wheels should be formed from two wheels mounted side by side, and both meshing with the other gears. One of this pair of wheels would be fixed to its shaft, and the other mounted by a spring connection, in order to keep one face of the teeth continually in contact. This was a fairly common device in certain classes of machines and was quite satisfactory.

Mr. Swetnam was called into the meeting.

Mr. Hadin explained the difficulties which were being discussed to Mr. Swetnam, and the Committee agreed after further discussion that Mr. Swetnam should design some device such as the one described for overcoming our difficulties.

Mr. Wormald was of opinion that we should continue to press the Bosch Co. in this matter.

The Committee agreed that this was advisable.

100th Meeting E.3129 - Magneto drive pinion for marine engine
Dec. 18. 11.

This modified scheme will be incorporated in the marine engine when re-built.

Mr. Wormald hoped to have it ready for test by Christmas, but could not promise definitely.
