Re: Body Mounting. Phantom lll. As mentioned in the latter portion of your report Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FD.{Frank Dodd - Bodies}13/MH.{M. Huckerby}24.11.37. we have experienced an amount of trouble with the rearmost body support on P.lll. both on experimental cars and on production (JLE{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} reports). The trouble is three-fold :- (1). The setscrew is bending. (2). The setscrew is not tight. (3). The rubber is loaded on an incline. The design was intended originally as an experiment, and an improvement is needed. Unfortunately we are unable to alter the bolting to the chassis frame to give immediate effect, so we suggest that the easiest way to overcome the troubles and at the same time correct the mechanics would be to put a small "Floatex Bush" in this body bracket. Agreed Jm{Mr Morley} [handwritten note] We suggest that you try this on one of our cars as soon as it is convenient. There is a design for this on LeC.5102 which was the scheme for the Floatex Mounting for the Long Wheelbase P.lll 38-EX. It will be seen that the set screw can be tight, and that it is in tension.
