Re. Protection by oxidation of Cylinder Block water jacket.

The oxidised surface layer should be produced experimentally under wet conditions, i.e. steam should be introduced into a cast iron box containing the cylinder block. The box would have inlet and outlet pipes passing under the furnace door. The temperature could be taken well inside the outlet tube. This should be the same as that now employed for the ordinary oxidising treatment.
