Re: FRONT ANCHORAGE OF REAR SPRINGS

With further reference to your memo R1/P31/1013 & the above in which you asked for confirmation of your view that the U-shaped design F4118, is too difficult to drop forge. I have submitted this to Messrs Hughes-Johnson. Although they do not complain of the difficulty they certainly seem to find it difficult to forge very close to the finished sizes, & a good deal of machining would have to be done. There seems no doubt also that the machining would be rather a troublesome.
